Hello and regards from Finland!
At first I’m sorry for possible misspellings, my English isn’t too good.
I just bought 4 doors Chevelle Malibu -68. And I must say, it really was love at first sight.

For some reasons I have found very little information and pictures about this model. I hope you could tell me more about my car? I’m grateful for any information.

This car was made in Belgium, does anyone know how many these cars were made? I suppose that this wasn’t very popular model? At least here in Finland there are not very many -68 Malibus.

Can anyone tell if the seats look like original? Otherwisde my car is very good shape inside, but outside… It really needs a lot of work, but some day (I hope) it will be beautiful! Car is working fine. :hurray:

I was going to buy a repair manual, but I only found (internet) one repair manual for Chevrolet Chevelle, Malibu and El Camino 1969-87. Is Malibu ’69 similar for ’68 so I can use that manual?
Here is some pictures of my car when I bought it.

Hello again and thaks for answers!
I'm ordering that rapair manual, I really need it now... Yesterday ignition switch burned so I'll start my fixing project there. Must say that instrument panel is quite interesting to take off... Looks like I have to take off steering wheel first. We started to work with it last night but it is not going to get off so easy i thougt. Well, we have the rest of our lives to fix the car...

I have only those pictures I linked before

but I'll send some more after I get something done with it.

I'm still interested in any information you can tell me about this model and also pictures of your car.

Nice car Tuija. You will find lots of qualified help for any part of that car on this site. You should try to be on here around 5pm eastern USA time as it seems like most people are on at that time.

It will take you some time, but you will find it is really a very easy car to repair. There are many areas on the internet that have illustrations on repairing just about any part you have problems with.

The electrical part of the ignition is not in the key area, it is down on the lower steering column. You will see it there. It is a slightly crescent shape. The only time you need to work on the upper area is if the key will not turn or you break the key off in the slot.

I don't believe the seat cover is correct. It has been recovered/reupholstered. Take your time, be patient and surf the net for answers to your questions.

Here is a post from this site that deals with your ignition key area;

The lower part is called the "Neutral safety switch"
