Barista Jul 22nd, 02, 1:11 AM To have the wheel centered in a stock 70-72 wheel well you want to have the backspace just slightly more than half the width of the wheel. So...perfect on an 8" wheel would be 4 1/2" backspace, 9" rim = 5" backspace, and so on. When you get up to the 10" rims the same principle applies, but you still might hit your tailpipe on the inside and rub the inner fender on the outside.
