: Will they fit?

Hey guy's ,

I'm already running a set of 8" Draglites on the rear of my 69 but I've been thinking of going to 10s. I know from reading posts here that 5.5 back space is ok, but a freind of mine has found a set with a 6" BS aand a set of new Good Year 27-10-15s that measure 11"+ across the tread. My question is will they fit my 69? or is the BS too much, or the tire too big? The tires are brand new-never been on a car and the wheels are in great shape.
Any thoughts would be much app. THANX!

Why not put em on the back of your car, lower the car slowly on the jack and check clearances with your fingers and a flashlight? Looking to see where they might hit and see if there's anything you can do to remedy the situation if you think they will. I dont think anyones run that big of a backspace on a 68-72 chevelle on the board.(at least that Ive read) So, I'd say pop em on there and check the clearances and let us know if it works! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanx Steve,

I thoought the back space seemed a bit deep. Normally I would try them but these wheels are in Calif. @ 450 miles from me. I think I'm gonna end up passing on this pair. Thanx again!

I have the same question. I am rebuilding a 69 Malibu for a "go fast" and with a 425HP stroker, I'm gonna need as much rubber on the ground as possible. I really dont want to go the chopped axel/wheel tub route so if anyone has maximum front and rear dish tolerances, I would REALLLLY appreciate it. I will be purchasing Centerline Auto Drag Type 6 wheels. Thanks in Advance!!!

On a 15 inch wheel the 6 inch of B/S will result in the wheel hitting the shock mount.
When you go to a 17 or 18 inch wheel the mount fits inside the wheel.

This is true for all 68 - 72 models.
