Headin to get the 2 quarter panels and bed replaced,, oh and floor pans.

Been 5 yrs in the planning and parts gathering phase. I even thought about buying something in a little better shape and selling this.

I got the #1428 bed panel with framework underneath from Ground up. This car will have a nice shiny painted bed like a new pick up has. Most Elcaminos I have seen have the sprayed bed liner or just Tonneau covers, so i decided early on to go this route.

So now the task at hand is the bed trim,,, to rechrome or go reproduction? I have seen the repro parts and have mixed opinions. Bottom line,, I know my original pitted and aged trim fits good,,not real sure about the new ones.
To rechrome the 4 corners and repair the side rails looks like about $1500.00 (ouch) to replace is a few hundred $$,, what to do??

Then color is next,,,, I just cant decide whether to go with mild or wild,, original or somthing custom.
Hugger orange is my color,, but I already has a Hugger orange Mustang:D.
Its funny,,, all the 70 Chevelles and Elcaminos that really catch my eye have the original SS rally wheels and RWL tires,,, the color is secondary,, so that much is decided.

To clone SS or not??? Definatly a cowl hood. I have the full SS dash complete and wiring harness for the whole car, still in the box.

Stroker 350 or 454?? this wont be a numbers matching car. I hear a BB makes for more difficult handling,, is this true?

The car wont be complete til next summer at the earliest so I have lots of time to decide so any advice or input is welcome and appreciated.

Nice project. I to am working on a 70 El Camino, trying to finish up body work right now. If you need the bed floor rear tail panel I can help. I reproduce them.
