I have two questions.

1. Will a 14x10 fit the rear of my 66?
2. Will a 14x8 fit the front?

I would think that both of those would fit, depending on the backspacing and the tire choice, whick will affect what fits...

14X10? Not sure what tires would be available in that range?

Obviously, you must have a tire in mind already, correct?

tires need certain size rims for proper fit and use, so its not so much picking a rim to fit, you need to think of the whole package; tire, rim width and backspacing...

Why 14 inch wheels?

I have 15X7 and 15X8 on my 66 Chevelle and there is physically more room for a wider rim in both front and back, but not for a wider tire...

I'm new to this, I want the same look you have. I just thought I would have to use a 10" wheel in the rear. What size tires do you have?

I am running BFGoodrich Radial T/As; 265-50/15 up front and 295-50/15 out back...

I had to have the rims custom built. I went through Wheel Vintiques in Fresno, California.

It was about 7-8 years ago, but they were very reasonable, about the same cost as other ralleys, even though they were custom made...

The fronts are from a mid-70's Monte Carlo and are stock... I use the trim rings of the 15X7s on the wider back rims because of less spacing...

I have not modified the outer lip of the quarter panel because it doesn't hit.

I previously had the car sitting about 4-5 inches lower all around, and even then, the front tires only rubbed when turning sharp (parking, etc.).

I think the wheels are suggested for between an 8-inch wide and 10-inch wide rim...

I have not seen a wider street radial tire for 15-inch rims...

Tony, I like your 66. Very cool.

I'm running '68 Vette rallys (15x7 with a 15 x 8 trim ring) on the front and and normal 15x8's in the back. My tires are 235/60s in front and 255/60s in the rear. I rub sometimes when I turn too hard too. I've been considering redlines, but I need new exhaust first. Though all this talk of dry rotted tires coming apart makes me wonder. Mine LOOK ok, but they're probably 14 years old.

Chad,
Yeah, mine are probably 7-8 years old, at least (I think I put them on in like 1994?). But they only have about 4000 miles or so (maybe alot more on the rear http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif) )

I run the 15X7 trim rings all around too...

By the way Chad, if you didn't check the "Body" forum lately, I think I want the stripe like yours... Nice Car Chad!

Mine was real low, but when I did it, I had one seat, and everything else was gutted (EVERYTHING, top and mechanism, windows and tracks, vent windows, back seat, dash board, front inner fenders...) As I put parts back on, the weight dropped the car even further (It would actually take the "dots" of the lines when I'd change lanes...).

I raised it back up, and finally, I am putting it back together (got the top frame on last week, and working on adjustment and install of new pump, hoses and lift cylinders this weekend, top upholstery after that). Of course I am also planning on swapping the 12-bolt out this weekend for another 12-bolt I am putting together... At this rate, It'll be ready for winter...

I figure I might add A/C next year, and then rebuild the front suspension, at that time either lowering it or air bags, etc... I am leaning toward the Global West upper and lower control arms with the adjustable coil-over shocks in front... It's got the Hotchkis springs front and rear now...
