A lot of people are always asking about repro 5-spoke Kelsey-Hayes wheels for '71-'72 Chevelle SS cars. I was surprised to find out that Classic Industries sells the Camaro Z28 wheels (round valve stem hole) as a reproduction.

I realize these are not correct for the Chevelle but if someone wants the correct appearing wheels for their '71-'72 and are not concerned with being factory correct, it's a good option over used Ebay ones that are usually bent.

Apparently they have either been very popular or they have not been able to get production going on these yet. I have found many of these at swap meets, on C-list, and from individuals that are original, in good shape, and are much cheaper than $180 each bare! I have seen a several sets restored and complete w/cap, rings, and new tires I could have bought in the $600-$800 dollar range.

Mike, that is very interesting. I had no idea that someone was reproducing them. I would imagine our wheels that are correct for the 71-72 Chevelles and early Z-28's are becoming quite rare in good shape

Usually bent? That is a pretty broad brush you are painting with. I have sold many on eBay, here and on C-list, none of them being "bent". Do you have personal knowledge of most of them being bent? Oh wait, maybe you represent Classic Industries. Are the rims Classic sells made in the far east by any chance?

Sorry, not picking on these wheels in particular. It just seems to be me I hear a lot of people complaining about buying used steel wheels (from everywhere) only to find one or more won't balance because of excessive runout.

Mike, I have heard a lot of the same stuff from people too. The "correct" wheels are now going on 40 years old, tons of bad ones out there
