LS6 experts, does anyone know how many Special Ordered Hugger Orange 1970 LS6 Chevelles are currently out there? I have seen two in person, one at BJ and the other at Chevel-Abration in 2004-05?

Here is one.....

I dont know how many were built. For thay past few months I have been helping my friend put together a " Hugger Orange " numbers matching LS-6 / T-400. With two build sheets.
They are cutting a lot of corners. I KANT tell them what to do. If I owned a 38000 mile DOCUMENTED HUGGER ORANGE LS-6. I would just about sell my sole for a pristine resto job.
The owner has some other 70s ( a rag top with papers ). He wants to get this LS-6 " Looking Good Enough " to drive to the local cruises.
With all due respect to the owner, He has some major health issues and may not be here in a year or two, If that long. I believe this is the reason to " Get er done ". Life is a One Way street, Enjoy it.

not many were made but I have seen a bunch of them over the years in magazines, internet, ebay etc.

Also have seen some LS6 cars in Daytona Yellow.

In 1969 Monaco Orange and Daytona Yellow were special order colors available on the dealer order sheet for the SS396

Chevy called it Monaco Orange for Corvette and Chevelle but Hugger Orange for Camaro even though it is the same color

I don't believe this is true, I was told the mixing formulas are different. Does anyone know for sure if this is true? They might look close but I don't beleive they are the same.

Same color. They use the same paint code. 72 is carousel red (72 is Monaco orange in 69) and code 76 is Goldenrod Yellow (Daytona Yellow in 69)

See for yourself.

I have had a special paint Monaco Orange (dash no paint code) 1969 Chevelle since 1986 and had this discussion many times over the years.

There was a GTO book years ago that said it was not the same but 72 carousel red, 72 Monaco orange, and 72 Hugger Orange are all the same color.

There was some hi po dealers who special ordered cars in another orange that some call "road commission orange" or "truck orange" but I think it is listed on Chevy paint chip chart as 516 Orange

The Chevy paint chip chart shows a 990 Hugger/Monaco Orange, a 516 Orange, and a 311 Omaha Orange

here is a cool site for paint chip charts
