: 70-72 Convertible Qtrs?
1972convss454 Apr 21st, 10, 3:01 PM Had a couple of questions concerning 70 to 72 convertible qtrs. First the new qtrs from Dynacorn, how do they fit and what are your thoughts?
Secondly I've heard Golden Legion now has qtrs available for 70 to 72 verts? Is that true and if so has anyone seen them?
I appreciate your help and thoughts:thumbsup:.

AggieChevelle Apr 21st, 10, 8:29 PM I replaced both quarters with the dynacorn conv quarters. They fit just fine. I only have two complaints.
the piece in the door jamb that attaches to the rocker was not stamped correctly at all. I had to cut this part and reform it with sheetmetal.
Also, the body line is not contoured correctly. I will have to reshape it with metal glaze.

:(:(:(
That's nice.
Anyone heard anything about the Golden Legion?
72soft-top Apr 22nd, 10, 1:01 PM Joe,
I purchased a set of Goodmarks a few years ago. At that time the story was Goodmark was used GM tooling to make them. Then Goodmark failed to pay royalties to GM so they pulled their tooling from Goodmark.
That said, I have the drivers "rough fit" and it aligned pretty nicely. With all sheet metal work, I always expect a little finesse or modifcations to make it right. For what it's worth, I installed an NOS drivers fender and it also needed a little work to fit correctly.
Good luck.

1972convss454 Apr 23rd, 10, 12:30 AM I was lucky enough to snag a pair of the Goodmark on the GM tool for my Blue 72 and the fit excellent. My brother purchased a pair of the Dynacorn for his 70 396 vert he is working on but we have not gotten that far to see how they really fit. I was hoping for a better response than the problem with the door jamb and body line. I was at a show this past weekend with several vendors and a more reputable one told me Golden Legion now has them available and that there was also a new company trying to get in the game and they have the GM tooled qtr press and has reworked it and are also fixing to start producing vert qtrs.
I need a set for my W vert and if something new is coming down the pike I dont want to get in a hurry to just buy the only thing available.
1972convss454 Apr 23rd, 10, 1:13 AM Well, check it out. I did a little digging around and Goodmark does now offer 70-72 full convertible qtrs. The question now is, how do they fit?
Don't know why this link doesn't take you directly to the item. Key in quarters in item search and about midway down the page you will find.

AJW Apr 24th, 10, 10:55 AM Have you spoken directly to Goodmark? They were recently bought out. I suspect their conv quarters are the same as the Dynacorn panels.
I looked a car that was in the process of having the Dynacorn panels installed, and the fit was decent, but the body lines are not close enough to the originals IMHO.
72soft-top Apr 24th, 10, 12:23 PM Nice work Bart:thumbsup:
DropTop70 May 6th, 10, 11:54 PM Just came across this thread in search, wondering if anyone has heard more about the Dynacorn panels? I know a local guy that specializes in Chevelle resto work, and he has told me that the Golden Legion panels are the best fit that he has worked with. However, I've noticed that the Dynacorn panels are considerably more expensive....just wondering if that says anything about them.
I'm getting to that point on mine now, and figuring that I will most likely do the GL panels, but just want to make sure that I do as much homework up front as I can.
1972convss454 May 7th, 10, 1:15 AM I talked to a guy yesterday who sells both Goodmark and Dynacorn and said the Dynacorn is better quality and have not heard anything negative in regardes to fit. Those pix's in the earlier post are a little scary. I plan on attending CB10 and hope the major vendors have both to look at live and in living color.
