what is the biggest wheel tire combo i can run on my 71 if i roll the fender lip on the back

well............ i just put on a set of 29x12.5 mickey thompson sportsmans under my car (too bad i got screwed at the swap meet on the rims, and 3 out of 4 are bent http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif ) and i didn't have to cut or roll, but it is a tight fit. i can post some pics. but it's a good look http://members.aol.com/jnkb2cool/mickey.jpg

I talked to a guy not long ago on the board that said he had 325's in the back with the lip rolled and some cutting on the fenderwell. But he said that other people have fit them in with no mods.

What size wheel and what is the back space.

10" rims with 5 1/2" backspace, mount 325-50's. That will fill the well nice and full.

that picture above was taken with 8" rims with 4.5bs, BUT i just bought some 10's last night with 5.5bs and they fit too, a little tighter and i may roll the lip just for safety or put something in the springs to keep them stiffer but they do fit fine http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif and the tires look better on 10's because theya aren't so bowed in.
i'll get them on and take some more pics tonight
