I have been wanting a set of 17'' billet wheels for my 70 for a while and have finaly saved up the money. The detail shop where I work has a wholsale account with Discount Tire Direct and I have always got great prices on tires from them, so when I saw they had Boyds in the dealer price list I was pretty excited. I figured 17x8 for the front and 17x9.5 rear would look good so I picked a wheel out and called them to place my order. Well, no one there can seem to understand what backspacing means and kept telling me the offset. Then I told them my bolt pattern 5 on 4 3/4, and he said "Oh, one of those wierd ones huh". I figured that with a wheel like that it would be pretty common. Then he said that he couldn't even get any wheels in a 9.5 with that bolt pattern. Well, needless to say I was pretty bummed the rest of the day. What should I do? Anyone with Boyds or who works at DTD please help! I know they exist I just need to get someone to sell them to me!

I suggest going to the boyds site or calling them directly to get the part number for the style/size /fitment you want then place the order(thru whoever) with the numbers they give you

I would recomend doing what Phillip said. Trying to explain yourself over the phone hardly ever works. Even if you think you got your point across, you are still relying on the other person to get the right part out to you.
I would find the exact part numbers that you need then call DTD again.
If you have trouble finding the numbers, shoot me an email with exactly what you want. Wheels, backspacing, bolt pattern, etc, and i'll see if i can get some part numbers for you when i go into work monday.

Well, I figured out the metric thing and looked on the DTD website and they realy don't have much other than 17x8s for GM bolt patterns. T he Boyds they sell are made just for them but look just like some of the regular models. I'm just bummed because I could get them for less than half of what is listed on the Boyds site. Well, thanks for the advice guys. Jim

Thanks for the offer, but I am kind of stuck on a five star billet design. Thanks anyways!
