Hi. I just bought a friends '72 Nova. I'm going to be putting my 400HP 355 in it and I'll need some traction. I'm just wondering what my limitations are for this car. I've seen them with 235s and they look pinched in there pretty bad. How about backspacing reccomendations? 15x8 with 4.5''? 5.5''? I'm hopeing with the right rear wheel combo I can atleast stick 265/50s in there. Thanks!! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif

There is a very thorough wheel fitment page for all year Novas that can be found on the links page of http://novaresource.com
Hope that helps!

I have a 70 Nova and am running into the same problem... Presently, I have 235/60s on there 15x7 rims with 3.5" backspacing. I had to trim the fender lip on one side to get them to fit. I know if I had a deeper backspacing, then I could make them fit a little better and possible get a bigger tire in there. I have tried the 255/60s on my Chevelle front on the nova, but they are 15x7 rims with 4.5" backspacing which is a little too deep. I figure with a 15x7 rims with 4" BS, then a 255/60 should fit nicely. I doubt you can go much bigger than that! If you get anything bigger, please let me know your combo!
Good luck,
Bill C.

For now I have two rims to try. A 15x8 with 4.5'' BS and a 235/60, and a 15x8 with 5.5'' BS with a 255/60. I really dont think the 5.5'' with the 255 is going to fit at all, but I'll give it a try. It seems that Novas may like shorter tires, if the 5.5'' rim fits, I'm going to try and mount 265/50s on it. I'll keep you posted BC.
