I have blasted and primered the metal dash on my 66. I have one restoration manual that says the black paint is an 80% gloss, another says high gloss and my friends say satin or semi. What is the correct gloss and any suggested brand. Will be sprayed not aerosal. thanks for any help

The factory used unbuffed gloss acrylic lacquer on the front of the dash. Acrylic lacquer does not dry with a high gloss, and requires buffing to get a high gloss. It will have the correct gloss if you leave it unbuffed.
The top of the dash (under and in front of the dash pad) is a satin finish.

X2. Mix up a cup of gloss black lacquer and spray it. It will dry to 60% gloss. When you have the bottom done add flattening agent to the rest of the cup and spray the upper dash to obtain the 0% gloss you want there. the rest of your interior metal should be painted the same way...straight lacquer @60% gloss. To paint with lacquer you'll need to final sand your primer with 600 grit. The factory didn't gloss the interiors to prevent sune glare. Hides finger prints also and I think it stays cooler than gloss black IMHO.
