for some reason i can't get the startor to engauge into the flywheel and turn the flywheel i have tryed different shims no shims...any shim that i could buy..but it still isn't working any suggestions?

well i put a new startor on it today and i took off the dust cover and saw that the flywheel is leaning towards the back..and my crossmember in bent up..could that be the problem?

sounds like someone ran over something really hard. What type of transmission? Sounds like you have more problems than just a starter.

yea its way more than the starter..but i cant get the flywheel and starter to go together..i don't have much experiance with cars and this is my first truck so i have no idea what to do and its an automatic tranny

Crawl under the truck with a tire iron with the transmission in N and tires blocked. With the inspection plate off place the tire iron inbetween the flywheel teeth and the block for leverage and turn the flywheel. That way you will see if the flywheel is bent. You will only beable to get it to turn 3 or 4 teeth at a time. If flywheel is bent you will have to remove the transmission to replace flywheel.

When did the problem start? Did you just install a new starter? Maybe it's the wrong one.
