Does anyone have an idea where I can get a set of 66 rocker molding extensions for my El Camino? I am looking for the best set I can find but am not having much luck. I need help. Thanks.

Back in the mid-to-late '80s, I found an NOS set. I was helping move a body shop, and these were sitting in the package. I asked, and the owner gave them to me...

I took them home and proceeded to shorten them with a hacksaw, so the'd fit my malibu (SS clone), since the SS pieces weren't available back then ( I didn't realize the SS were a completely different look than the Elcos)...

A few years later, I bought an El camino, and from that point on, I have NEVER seen another NOS set...

You can almost see them in this shot...

The extensions shown in the photo are not for El Camino. El Camino extensions are the same width all the way across and all of the ribs go all the way across. Those look like SS396 extensions.

I sent the seller a question about the photo asking if the EC extensions are actually being reproduced, yet.

As of today I had not heard of any reproductions being made. Finding used ones or NOS where ever you can is the only way to get them. The SS396 extensions are being reproduced, but they don't fit the El Camino.

Thanks for the responses. I called last week on the ones that were on Ebay and the ad was wrong. All they carried were the Chevelle extensions. Has anyone ever heard of any companies that refurbish these moldings? If so, let me know. Thanks.

The angle is the same on the front of the molding and the rear of the molding is almost hidden by the back bumper. Worth a try.

Those moldings are VERY hard to find. The ones on the chevelle car are different, and the 66 wagons did not have them at all.

I was very fortunate to find an NOS set for mine, and ended up selling my worn out originals.

Continue to watch ebay - I have seen them from time to time. You might also post a "Wanted" ad in the chevelle classisfieds. best of luck.

Red. Thanks for the info. I will keep my eye out on Ebay. I also got an email from a guy out of California that said he can refurbish the originals including paint. So that may be an option. The only problem is that he needs to see them before giving me a firm price. Also, have you ever seen a 1966 NOS El Camino Grille emblem for sale? Are they out there or are they as hard to find as these rocker extensions?

Can't find them.
They have the rockers for a 66-----but I do not see the extensions anywhere.

Few interesting things for the 59 Elky there---that were not when I did my car

I'm still not seeing the rocker extensions for the El Camino. They show ones for the SS Chevelle but those are different. Refurbishing the ones I have is looking like the most likely option.

Correct, rear rocker extensions and grill emblems for 66 El Camino are not available. Do the best with what you have. Keep looking otherwise for good used or NOS if you can find them.

I have a 66 El Camino with extensions, I refurbed the ones that came with the Elky when I bought it, I spent many hours redoing, my neighbor is an artist and she did the black paint and came out great. I was told several years ago the some have taken the long lower rocker trim and cut it to the correct length and used them as the extensions.
check out my Elky with the refurbed extensions.

Geez!.....I zipped thru the list too fast--I saw El Camino and scrolled right past it into the other section. Sorry about that.
