Sleeper '69

I've learned a lot checking the archives on this question but didn't see an answer to my question.
I am replacing the 307 in my '69 with a '70 402 BB. Would you believe, I'm sure you would.....
The water pumps looked identical (both long) so I cleaned up, painted and installed the one originally on the BB. You guessed it. Late '69 GM changed the water pump. The boss for the power steering bracket on the earlier was approx 2" and the one on the later version is 2 1/2". Does anyone know if there is a bracket change available on the power steering unit? Can I grind off 1/2" of the boss on the water pump?
