I took apart the gauge cluster and painted the parts inside and needles etc. I seemed to have lost the shift indicator?

Powerglide Column shift car.

Does anyone have any pictures of how that goes together? Does it connect inside the gauge cluster under the plastic lens?

Is the shift indicator connected to the steering column that I have on a shelf somewhere?

Can't make sense of it.

It's a little piece of wire, partially wrapped around and attached to the steering column. The top end pokes up thru an opening in gauge cluster.
If you just happened to replace the speedo cluster bezel, chances are there no longer is a slot for the gear indicator pointer. All the ones I've replaced needed that cutout before assembly.
Found out the hard way the first time...

I grabbed my steering column and saw the wire with the orange painted tip on the column. Thanks for the help. Pretty simple way for the shift indicator to work. Kind of suprising.
