Well My computer was filled with virus' lol. I was running XP pro. My friend installed Windows 7 and so far I like it. Seems to run a lot smoother than windows XP. I never really ran vista. They updated windows media player alot. I like that. Also its a lot less cluttered. Any of you guys have it yet?

I have not run it but my wife's new computer arrived today, so I will get my first look at it.
I can't wait to see how this new computer runs, its a i5-750 processor with 8 gig of memory and a one terabyte hard drive.

My desktop PC has Vista, my notebook is running Win-7 and my wife's laptop also has Win-7. Personally, I like Vista.

I actually like it pretty well. I've been running it since sometime last fall, for my developer machine. It's pretty fast, 64-bit allows me to run 8gb ram and yet unlike XPx64, it works with most software available. The only issue I've had so far is there is something of a memory leak. I'm not sure if this is Windows or not, but from time to time I'm using all 8gb of ram and running NOTHING.

I like the new file folder layout and navigation, the small button on the bottom right for show desktop, and the "pin" to taskbar thing. At first I didn't like how it groups all my programs on the start bar but I'm getting used to that.

i'ven ever tried it- but can you set the layout of WIN7 to "windows classic" so it looks all nice and uncluttered like WIN98? that's how i've got Vista on this machine, and i like it way much more better than the cartoony default layout..

I have been running Win7 for a long time. Ran the beta ver, and release candidate. I am now running final release win7 ultimate. the classic desk top is gone but it has many other very nice features. The task bar is great with previews of running programs. I like it alot. It loads fast. I have tortured it and it has never crashed.

yeah, another fan here. this laptop came with xp with the free upgrade to win7 when it was released. Have been running it ever since. this machine showed noticeable improvement in speed and less errors than xp for sure. I see no down side to win7 so far.

How do you do the split screen?

Not sure if this is what you mean, but you can right click on the task bar and select "show windows side by side".

How do you do the split screen?

Ill try click the restore button on top of the screen the center one between the X full screen and - minimize. use the windows key on the bottom of your key board and the left or right arrow at the same time. open a different program and use the windows key and the other arrow at the same time, You should get a split screen. the windows can not be maximized when you do this.

I like windows 7. running it for a few months now but I suggest (as long as your comfortable with machines) grabbing the "god mode" plug in for win 7.

God mode is good.

Ditto..... A marked improvement over Vista. Noticed the difference right away.. smoother and faster. I have been running since before its public release.

How do you do the split screen?
I just click on the top of the window (up where your - , square and x are) and drag it to the edge of the monitor and it should snap into half that screen, likewise with the other side

I have it on my new laptop and like it much better than Vista. Boots much, much faster and seems more stable.

I also have it on a second drive on my desktop but haven't fully converted yet, still some software compatibility issues even with the 32-bit version. XP Pro still running fine so I haven't found a compelling reason to completely convert. I do like the Libraries feature in Windows Explorer. I do quite a few Chevelle related web sites and this feature helps segregate the various sites and related material.

I do miss the Quick Launch toolbar but I guess the Pin To Taskbar is an alternative.

Quick Launch is still in Windows 7l; it is just disabled by default. Enable it and off you go.

Big DHow's that? I have the Home Premium 64-bit on the laptop. When I search QUICK LAUNCH it says, "The Quick Launch toolbar isn't included in this version of Windows. To open programs quickly, you can pin them to the taskbar." Pinning to the Task Bar is fine but it doesn't appear as though you can manage the physical size of the Task Bar the way you can with the Quick Launch bar in XP.
