I am planning on running 28X11.5-15 mickey thompson ET Streets on a 15X7 rim. Is this too narrow of a rim or will I be OK?

The reason I want to run the narrow rim is to 'suck in' the sidewalls to give me a little more room in the wheel well.

If you choose the right offset rim you should have no problem with an 8" rim. A 7" rim seems a little small.

I agree with Steve. I'd also worry that the center of the tire would wear out pretty quick. These tires wear out fast enough already.

Mickey Thompson ET Street Tires recommend a 15x8 if running a 28x11.5-15 with a tread width of 8.6 . But if you are running a tread width of 9.9 they recommend a 15x10.

Thanks for the responses guys.
Mickey Thompson recommends plus or minus 1 inch from tread width. In this case the tread width is 8.6 inches. So I would be running minus 1.6 inches, which is 0.6 inches narrower than M/T recommends. Do you think this is too far?

PS: bonus question: does anyone know if the equivalent Hoosier quick time pro size would be exactly the same, narrower or wider than the same size M/T?

On the Hoosier Quick Time Pro Tire... The suggested rim size is 8-10 inches. The tread width of those are 10 inches. That is for a 28x11.5-15 .

I have a brand new set of 28X12.5X15 ET Streets and, contrary to what the ads say "8.5,9.0,9.5,10.0" is printed on the tire sticker........JJim

Thanks for the comments guys. So, if I had to run a 7" tire for clearance, could I run that 28X11.5-15 Mickey without problems?

thanks
Joe

I don't know... I think that you might run into problems because that is 1 inch that it is off. I've been looking around and on the Micket Thompson web site... http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip.html . They show a recommended size of 8.5. But in the Summit Magazine they show 8.0. So the descision is yours. They only problem might be that the tire really hangs over the rim. Well good luck!!
