I recieved a free set of late 80's 15x7 camaro 5 spoke rims to get me by while I slowly restore my 66'. I want to find a cheap set of used tires to throw on them. what is a basic size that would be recommended?

Have 15x7 factory rallys from later model on 66 elcamino. 4" backspace. Body on frame no interior or engine/trans in car. 255/60-bfgs fit great with plenty of room to spare on rear, could go way bigger & play with back space 41/2to 5" Have seen many posts, on this site indicating up to 295s with careful attention to backspace, on rear. Can' help on front, have disc brakes, wheels clear standard calipers fine, but 225/15s hit sway bar at full lock, have fat sway bar & late model 3 turn gear. reluctant to make final decision on front until car assembled and can measure, measure, measure. If you have a friend at a tire company maybe you could, mount some rags & make your decision. Be sure to check bolt pattern on wheels. Plan B Use research function of this site & check previous posts. Many possibilities have been discussed here. Karl

The factory size that came on the rims is 215/65/15 so if you stay in that area you will be fine. Thats what I got on mine right now. But I really need more meat out back as the 454 tends to spin the tires at take off.
