I have 225/50R17 with 7" wheels on my 67 now and no problems. I tried 235/60x15 on the front of my 67 Elky on an 8" ARE wheel and one side did rub the front lip during a turn. These were a tad bit wider than your 225/70x15 and my wheel only had 3.75" backspacing. I think a Corvette 15x8 rally has more backspacing. Given those, they should fit and not rub on the outside. Inside maybe due to the backspacing. Check the wheel first without a tire and check for rubbing against the steering parts.

I can't help with the front but the rear 255 60 15 is what I had on my car before the tear down and rebuild was started. They fit with no rubbing at all, in fact there was room for more. I'll be running 295 50 15's on a 8" rim with 4.5"'s of back spacing when all is said an done. Hope this helps a little

Pop,
make sure of your backspacing...

I run 295-50/15 on the back of my 66 convertible, no rubbing, and no modifications to the outer lip (still running the factory molding...). But I had the rims custom offset, can't remember what they were though... Heck, maybe it is 4.5inch, just be sure to double check before getting the rims...

As for the front, I run a 265-50/15, but they are on 7 inch ralleys... can't help on the 8 inch wheels...

But, 70-series tires are tall, and the 8 inch Vette ralleys will place the wheel out a bit more than 7s... I'd venture a guess that it won't work...

Thanks for looking out for me Tony.67sedan2dr (Nathan) sent me a pick of his 67 with 295 50 15's on 15X8 with 4.5. He said that he had no rubbing what so ever. The good thing here is my body is still off the frame so when I go to put it back on I'll be able to even both sides out. Thanks, Nick
