: who here runs M/T ET streets on the street all the time?

I am going to be buying some tires for my 65 SS here very soon, and I have found out I can probably only fit a 10" wide tire in the rear. The 454 puts out 500HP and 540TQ, so I need something that will hook. I want to buy some M/T ET streets so that the car will actually hook. I will only be driving this car on the weekends and to the strip maybe once or twice this summer.

I am wondering how bad it would actually be to run them on the street all the time. I will be having radials up front most likely. Does anyone have any input or recommendations?

thanks

I know guys that run them all the time, and I used to run some McCreary cheaters on the street all the time. With my McCrearys, all I had to do was keep good air pressure in them all the time. If I went out to race I would lower the pressure to around 15 or less PSI but then the drive home would be strange. The back of the car would feel like it was "floating" because of the sidewalls flexing from side to side, but no big deal. With MT ET streets my buddy that used to do a TON of street driving told me that he never liked to drive them on the freeway for too long because they get heated up and wear quickly, but keeping them aired up helped. I dont know if that answers your question. Oh, also never drive with them if it is going to rain!!

I run them all summer to and from the track
and around town on my 71. As I have 4.10's I
don't drive over 60 very much on the highway.
No tubes and 30 psi for the street and 17 psi
at the track works well for my 13.3 @101 car.
I've been caught in bad rain storms with them
but had no trouble driving 40 mph.
I also run radials on the front and it gives
it an odd feeling ride. Gary
