Hi guys,
Okay here is my problem. Just got my car painted (copper metallic) and i need some new wheels and meats. Its a 72 malibu got new shocks in the back and replaced the front end (pain in the butt in my driveway lol) got some old 14 inch ET knockoffs on it and it looks realsad with new paint. I am new to this site but am hooked everyone seems to be real helpful and was hoping you guys could help. Was thinking of going with cragar SS but am not sure. I dont want to spend more than 1500 because most of my money went for paint. Would love any helpo you guys could give. Thanks

These will look really Phat on any Chevelle...

rear ; 15x8 5 x 4.75 (4" BS I think)
front; 15x7 5 x 4.75 ( " )
Should be able to get these for $850-900
I like the GoodYear GT II's. 275/60/15 on the back and a 225/70/15 up front < $400
If you want to do 16"'s, you can still do that for $1500 or less easily, only the rears will have to be a 285/60/16 and a 225/60/16 up front. That rear tire is big @ 29.4 inches in diameter but look great and will fit.

I agree with Jimmy P above....TTII's look good on any car. I have them on my 68 Z/28 and love them. One warning...lots of people think they are too popular (everybody has them) so they don't like to see them anymore. Kind of like Crager SS wheels back in the day. The most popular...yes. Why?? Because they looked the best. Same goes for the TTII's. Best is an opinion...but certainly they look good and period correct.
I would go with 4.5" back spacing with 15X8 rims on the back with the P275 60R 15" tire. I think the 4.5" bs centers the tire better and you might be a little close to the lip with 4". I have this size rim and tire on the back of my 70 with 4.5" bs. Can't help you on the front as I left my 70 with the stock 14's and a P215 or 225 tire. I like the BFG Radial T/A for the tires. Popular, look good, and relatively in expensive. Good cruizer tire, not a hole shot tire.
If you want to go with 50 series tires (not my recommendation), there are those on here that have squeezed P295 50R tires in the 70-72's with 5.5" backspacing. I personally don't like the lower proofile tire on my muscle car era cars.
Edelbrock makes some nice looking wheels so you might do a search and get a gander at those on the net. If you do a search on this site you might find some info on those wheels. Somebody here recently put them on their car I believe. A friend of mine put the ones that look similar to th the TTII's on his 69 last year and it looked very very nice. Use yours or Team Chevelles search function and you will find a wealth of information on tires and wheels on the 70-72 models.
Good Luck

Hope some of this helps

I put ARE 200Ss on my 69 Camaro for less than$1500 and they are 17's. Cragar is also making a 17" S/S that looks pretty darn good too if you want the classic look with some updates. Lots of other choices too for the budget you have. Good Luck! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Aren't the Cragars a unilug design? Don't want those if you ever plan on taking it out to the drags, they won't pass tech. I don't blame you though, they look really good on our old cars. The TT2's also hve that classic styling and will be my next wheel when I replace the Centerlines I'm running now.
