Have to say :thumbsup: to the slate w/blue interior. Aside from a few underhood items and (apparently) 67 bucket seats, I like it! Job well done.

yes 67 buckets they were in the car when I bought it. and I never wanted to deal with trying to sell them and buying the correct 66. plus I like the latching idea better. what under hood items do you see wrong beside the battery and master cylinder?

The P/S reservoir cap is incorrect, I'm pretty certain.

Dual reservoir master cylinder...did you upgrade to disc's? Looks to have spark plug shields which were not suppose to be on 66 SS396 Chevelles (although GM parts book lists them) but these look like they bolt on via the exhaust manifold bolts instead of directly to the heads. Hard to tell if the front spash pan is Argent Silver or body color. Kudos though for doing the grille extensions correctly - they are often left with the brightwork bars. :thumbsup:

yes I have disk up front with 11" drums in the rear. I do have later spark plug shields that's a long story the splash pan is argent silver with body color. its hard to tell but its correct. I forgot about the extensions until my last update pictures on here were someone pointed that out. so I removed them and painted them right away. the PS cap is a service replacement cap you can still buy from GM

well.. you may have to suck it up and get the redlines if you plan to show it and have it judged.. as you won't be able to handle the loss of points you will get with like cars in your class with the correct tires and wheels. Just food for thought ;)

:beers:Looks great. I decieded to go with the bias redlines, only drive the car around 1000 miles a year. My first set of redlines in fall of 65 only last about 2 months. Also kept the single reserivor and manual brakes because of the limited driving.

Just got though looking at the whole album. I really like the small ear muffs, gives a much more finished looked; but difficult to install, so maybe thats why they changed in midstream. I have heard that some venders have a much thinner arm rest pad that looks much more like the originals. Like the overspray on the exhaust manifolds, nice touch. The ps hose is in the wrong place, maybe you want to change that. I attached a photo. I have also included a photo of an original floor mat. I think someone is still reproducing a similar one except for the underside. Not sure; but think that the lift part of the jack should be installed under the tire and the end of the mast fits into a small L shaped bracket that is part of the floor.

As I said previously :beers::thumbsup:

James the floor mats or just reproduction made by OPGI. the fronts fit fine but the backs are way to big. it seems they are for a Impala. I like the look of the original style mats vs the carpet ones. for the PS hoses I studied the AIM and all the pictures I had and I thought I had correct. the trunk and the jack I am not done yet so that is why I have it like that. and the ear muff headliner is hard to install correctly and the upholsterer I hired to put it in has been doing Chevelles and other cars for over 30 years and never put one in a car until mine

The "Slate Sled" Looks great!!! Funny about the names - we have been naming some 66 Chevelles for a few years now. We called Larry's Cameo Beige car - "Mocha Latte" We call Jerry Jacksons(RIP) the Silver Bullet. We have been calling my 66 - Project Red Racer.

I hope you bring it to Chevelle-a-bration!!

I name all my cars too. Usually the names have something to do with color, or where they came from, and they are almost always a Girls name. Your car looks like "Stormy" or maybe "Silvie" to me. :D

Nice car, but lets point out a few things I see. Most 66 chevelles didn't have rad shrouds with out have air injection emission (only finger guards). Unless this is a 360 or 375 hp car the air cleaner is incorrect. To big of gaps on the trunk to body. rear tail lamp panel has been replaced (count the weather strip fingers) Detail such as... Fuel vent line, trunk weather strip, 67 buckets, rear inside window trim, Rare Atlanta cars only had the rear panel blacked out, ass end sits a little high. Just a few minor things to correct before the show season starts.

thanks for the comments. the rad shoud is there for one reason that is to help keep the engine cool while I DRIVE IT. I dressed the engine to the 360 spec. yes the rear tail light pannel was replaced as well as just about every pecie of metal on the car. the 67 buckets were in the car when I bought it. I am not sure what you are seeing wrong with the fuel vent line. but I am also not 100% done working in the trunk. I also do see what is wrong about the inside window trim. when I was remvoving paint after I bought the car I found black paint then primer then bare steel on the tail light panel. so I saw fit to paint it that way and I like it that way. also very early Balt. cars could have gotten that way per this site. may I see your car:beers:

Thought all 66 SS cars with air conditioning got a shroud and a fan clutch without the finger guard and the 3 row with the 325hp and a 4 row with the 360 & 375 cars.. Without Air Condiitioning, I thought that if you got the 325hp or 360hp or 375 hp and you also order the V01 (heavy duty radiator) then you all you got was a fan shroud without a finger guard (no clutch fan). If you wanted the fan clutch all you had to do was order K02. Also the L35 got a 3 row and the L34 & L78 got a 4 row. 67 a little different because of the small 3 row radiator with the narrow rows that was introduced in the 325hp cars.

So you could have the fan clutch (K02) and a radiator without a finger guard and a shroud (by ordering V01) with either the L35, L34, or L78 engine.

Fuel vent line in the trunk looks like it was bent wrong.

Keith, Great Chevelle,you should be Very proud of it. You can check my link and you can tell which year is my favorite. Those pictures have to be re-shot,because I spent the winter re-doing a lot of small details to bring my '66 back to a "very mild stock modified"which is my taste. Your Chevelle is just beautiful,it really takes you back to way back when.Good Job!!...Bob
