Well I spent close to 20 hours with meguiars #2 and #9 and 2500 wet paper in my garage even had halogen light on stand to show imperfections. Iam 54 and first time ever doing this lots of water when sanding, careful not to apply presure to buffer was impressed with my results  Well my son in law comes over look at all those scratches, swirl marks this thing is a mess  He took the buffer cleaned the pad put #9 on and did 1/2 of the trunk well what a difference he detailed for Benz dealership for 5 years. I feel embarrassed really thought I had done a good job my daughter tells me 200000.00 show room cars were the norm for him. There comeing over today to fix my chevelle. I guess Iam just a dumb bricklayer thats lucky.

Your first time and you didn't burn thru the paint in a bunch of places?

That's how you learn, even at our age. Watch him carefully and learn from what he does. Polishing and waxing seems simple but in reality it is not.
