It's time to get a new set of tires on my car. The fronts are 235/60 15 the rears are 285/60 15 , Radial TAs . I went to check prices and and I see the rear size isn't there anymore. Can someone tell me if they know where I can find 2 of these or a new size that will still work that has close to the same width that will still work without modification to the fender wells.

I just found a size and was wondering if anyone else uses it. Its a 295/60 15 Radial TA . Will this size fit on a 70 chevelle w/o modification to the fenderwell

Use the search function for this. It's covered extremely regularly.

The 275/60R15's are only 1/2" shorter (28.5" vs. 28") and .2" less section width. Probably couldn't even tell the difference. If you speedo is correct, at an indicated 60mph, you'll be doing 59mph.

I don't see a 295/60R15 but I do see a 295/50R15. I'm looking at http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/ under Tire Catalog > Specialty Performance > Radial T/A. The 295/50R15 is almost 2" shorter than your current 285/60R15 (26.6") and almost an inch less sidewall.

Lenny, I would be interested in either the 285 or the 295/60's....I want to stay with a 60 series tire for the diameter....I want large, not the smaller 50 series...I have a 71, but same wheel well as yours.. I have a brand new set of 295/50's in the garage, they were mounted on a 3 1/4" back space 8" wide wheel, and they would hit on the quarter lip when the car came down going over a bump, or with a passenger...but they would have worked with a 4 1/2 to 5" backspace...I had lots of room inside, just none on the outside. Widest 60 series 15" tire is the P275 that I am aware of (at least those available BFG T/A's). I have these on the back of my 70 with 4.5" bs and they fit like a glove...no rubbing. The change from P285's to P275's seems like it would be minimal... and not even noticeable. Just my $.02

A 70 Chevelle will easily accommodate a 295 tire. There's enough in the wheelwell for nearly 12.5" of section width. A 295 won't require and wheelwell mods, but once you in the 315 range, trimming the wheelwell edge may be required.
