I am getting ready to sell my '71 SS 454 Chevelle. It currently has the stock idiot lights but years ago I bought a full gauge dash still attached to it's wiring harness in very good condition from a '70 454 Monte Carlo. The only parts that didn't work in it was the clock and the amp gauge.

1) Would it be worth my time and resale $$$ to do the gauge conversion before selling? Or just leave it stock as is and sell the gauges and harness separately on ebay later?

2) if yes, which method would you guys use to install: a) rewire the pin outs and install extra wires for the tach and amp gauge or, b) replace the wiring harness from the gauge car? remember, the clock and the amp gauge don't work so even if I did it correctly, I wouldn't know it.

Here is a link to the instructions: http://hem.bredband.net/chevellegearheads/documents/Idiot%20light%20to%20gauge%20conv.pdf

I really hate modifying the harness as you can't easily undo it if you F-it up, but on the other hand, I have no experience in replacing the harness (including fuse box forward) and that kind of sounds like a nightmare to me.

So what would you guys do if you were in my shoes? Thanks guys!

I would sell the car as is and try to unload the dash separate of the car. JMO, and I don't think the 70 and the 71 are a direct swap from what I have read?
