You have to wonder, though, because there are more than a handful of the B/FX and C/FX cars that somehow survived past the end of the lease agreement. I turned wrenches on a B/FX Comet in the late 80's here in Hawaii for a friend. The car's setup was identical to the A/FX cars except it originally had a 289 with 4 Weber downdraft carbs. Steel quarters and roof, and the rest was 'glass. Doors, fenders, hood, trunk lid, bumpers, all of it. It had the straight front axle with no front brakes, and a ladder bar setup out back. I vaguely remember the car having some coil springs out back with locating pockets that were about 2" deep, but I could be wrong, as the pictures I see of most of the cars are leaf springs. The car was also outfitted with the single hoop, 4 point roll bar and the fiberglass racing seats. My friend raced that car with a 6-71 blown 355 sbc, and it ran pretty consistently in the high 10's. It was also his daily driver. He was smart about the car enough to never cut the hood for the blower, he just ran without it until he finally installed a nitrous fed 412" bbc. By then he'd had a 10pt cage installed. He sold the car as a rolling body for $4k in the early 90's.

All's I'm sayin' is that some of these cars survived. It might well be possible that the one getting slammed in this instance did in fact start off as a smallblock car. I don't know, and don't care to guess. :noway:

I don't know about the other cars but his info on 427 COPO cars is not correct.
Sounds like a lot of exaggeration to me.

As far as fake cars, you do have to do your homework and be sure what you are buying and watch out for fake paperwork.
