anything i need to do to the speedo:example,lubrication,before i put it back. i want to show the original miles.

Does the speedometer work smoothly without bounce and noise?

If so, it may be ok.

It's a pain to do after the dash install so it wouldn't hurt to take the inside cable out of the speedo cable and lube it up good. I tried the parts store speedo graphite oil and it didn't work very well.
I then took some bearing grease in my hand and wiped it on as I slid it back in the sheath. Just a little the entire lenght.
Works well with no bouncing or noise.
