Does anyone have any tricks to buffing or cleaning original clear glass. The car is a 71 Chevelle. How does it look when done?

Find Cerium Oxide....There are dense wool pads to apply and polish. Think I saw a kit at Summit Racing. Rub till your elbows collapse. If it's a scratch you can feel with your finger nail, it's toast. 4-0 steel wool and glass cleaner for crud on glass. Watch for fogging.....

Here's a trick....buy new glass.

I've been down this road & all I managed to do with that glass polishing kit was make a big mess. Side & rear glass is tempered. Wasted about $50 & two hours of my time trying, but nothing gets scratches out of tempered glass.

If your glass isn't scaratched, it will buff out great. When I buff out a paint job I hit the exterior windows with the compound and the buffer. They turn out looking great. If your trying to remove scaratches you'll have to use the above info on the cerium oxide. I've done that too. If you can get the imperfection out, you have a noticable wave in the glss there.

I agree with Steve O., use the 4-0 Steel wool.
I do a wipe down first with glass cleaner and a micro fiber towel. Then do a dry pass with the steel wool. Don't work the steel wool too hard, it will knock off whatever it's going to knock off in the first 3 or 4 passes. . Then wipe down again with glass cleaner and micro fiber. You're done. And that's as good as it's going to get with out making a big mess.

And like Pete said, if you want perfect, get new glass. :)
