Hey guys....I want to know from someone who has experience with this...Im thinking of the BFG Drag radials.....I know they're not made for wet wx driving, but in the event I get caught in a rain shower, how bad are they??? Im hearing stories from "not bad at all" to "they wont stay on the road, terrible" My chevelle is a cruizer only, not a daily driver...I only go to shows and cruiz-ins, but once in a blue moon, I get caught in a downpour, and I just want to know if I can still get around reasonably...I dont want to have to pull over and park it. Also, how do they wear in regular use, will I get more than a season out of them? Assuming I dont burn them off, of course....Thanks...John

I had them on my car, now on rims in the garage.
Definately better than regular radials, as far as dry traction.
But I was going up hill in the rain, not accellerating, just going home, and with a 396/4sp/4.10 geared 12 bolt, and my back end got spooky loose. No accident, but I think your lucky to get a year out of them, as far as wear.

I got one season out of them with 3 trips to the track. Only got 3 runs each time. Things are nearly bald. I am going to run BFG T/As on the street this year and finish off the drag radials at the track. Mine got squirrely in the wet also. I never drove in the rain, just damp road here or there and they were loose. If you are staying on the street and driving in rain, I would run street tires.

I would like to thank the guys who replied to this post. I'm Johnny O's wife and although he really wanted those tires, he has been getting mixed messages about them. He doesn't go to the track with the car. It is a car that is used almost daily to go to a local hangout for car lovers like ourselves. My concern about this tire was that it would rain one night, he would slide and then be swearing up a storm and end up buying other tires anyway. I want him to get something he will like, but something that will also be SAFE. So thank you guys again!

I have had 235 drag's on my '64 GTO for years. It is a 455 4-speed. It hooks good and has been driven in the rain for hundreds of miles with no problems. They seem to last pretty well for me. I don't do a lot of burnouts. I only heat them slightly at the track. That's my experience.

I only got 4-5000 miles on these.
How many miles did you get JSmitz?
These can be driven in the rain if you are very careful. The tire has a very shallow and narrow tread even when it is brand new. It will hydroplane very easily.

Hey JO's wife.

What did you do with Jonny O? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

and your welcome for the info.

Hey guys, it's Johnny O's wife again. John is holed away in the garage for at least another couple of weeks. I'm sure all of your significant others can relate to this. Thanks again for all your information. I know having fun is priority for your guys, but being safe is the most important for me when it comes to JO.
Take care everyone - hope you all have some great weather to get those Chevelles out!

SS_Dave, I guess I got about the same miles out of mine. But, I made dozens of passes down the 1/4 (On and off the track http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif).
