augy Apr 8th, 10, 3:57 PM Can anyone tell me the part number for the distributor that came with the 68 L79 engine? The engine I just purchased is missing the distributor. I do have an extra one in my parts collection with part number 1111297, which I believe to be from a 1968 327. GenOne Apr 8th, 10, 4:30 PM If memory serves me correct they used two distributors on the 68 L79 Chevelle - 444 was the early model while the 478 was introduced later. My one owner L79 completely untouched outside of the smog has an engine assembly date of Feb 20, 68 and has the original 444 dated July 21, 67. Another original L79 (convert) with a similar engine assembly date also has the 444 dated July 21, 67. If you want pics I can send them off - car is unrestored.
