I have 295/50's on the back (on 8"ers) and I think the 265's on the front would look awesome. Has anyone tried this? Is the 265 on a 7" rim going to work ok? I'm going to lower the car 1"-hopefully this won't cause problems. Any input is appreciated.

That's a pretty big tire. Sidewall shouldn't be a problem. I have 225/50R17's on 7" rims that are 4.4" and the 265's calculate to 5.2" but they're 1.5" taller than mine...that might be the rub (so to speak). What kind of backspacing did you use to fit the 295/50's on the rear?

They're a 5-1/2 backspace on Weld draglites. I plan on doing a 4-1/2" backspace on the fronts.

I doubt it will fit. I tried 245/60/15 on 8" rims w/4.5" backspacing and they just rubbed in a turn.

I have 265-50/15 BFG Radial T/As on 15X7 inch Corvette-style ralleys (off a mid-70's Monte Carlo). Sorry, I don't know what the off-set is.
They fit well. I used to have the car extremely lowered (5-6 inches below stock) and only had a minor rubbing at full-lock (sway bar, and the center inner fender bolt).
I run BFG 295-50/15s on the back with 15X8 ralleys, but I had them made with a custom offset by Wheel Vintiques. Once again, the extreme lowering was fine, AND NO outer lip modifications at all, even running the factory trim... I do run poly bushings to help keep the rear located a little better though...
Of course, mine is a 66, so naturally it looks better than a 67 would http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif...
I took the lowered springs out and put in Hotchkis springs (supposedly1-inch lower than stock, but they look lower).
The old setup was so low, it would literaly knock the dots of the road during lane changes... Destroyed the headers and really bent up the lower lip of the scattershield after about 1000 miles...
Check-out my photos...
I can also email some more photos it interested...
