I'm curious if anybody has squeezed a 20x10 rear wheel under their chevelle without having to mini tub? If I have to mini tub are they vehicle specific or are mini tubs universal & where can I purchase them? Thanks for all your help.

Prior to recently I would say No...BUT, fairly recently two people have done it with admittedly very little room. You could contact Jon @ DriverzInc, he was the unsuspecting catalyst to the latest success of at 10" wheel in a 64/65 fender.

I would definately say maybe you'd be able to get a 20x10 under there... and its going to be tight. At least at a 20" diameter you're clearing all the obstructions of the shocks etc. The majority of mini tubs will be universal. I have seen a few companies that sell them specifically for things like 1st gen Camaros etc. But of course when you have it made for a specific car you'll pay a premium.

Thanks for the tip, I talked with Justin down there at Driverz Inc and they really know their stuff. He gave me some good advice. Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for your input, yeah from what i've been told it probably won't fit so I should either mini tub it or go with a 20x8.5" wheel. Thanks for your help.

I would suggest that if you are going to min-tub the car, consider a notch while you are at it. Its not all that difficult and would allow for some extra clearance for those big 'ol wheels.

Yeah, that's my (eventual) plans. Frame notch, narrowed rear, mini tub...the only thing I haven't figured out is if the rear control arms will need to be moved. I'm also planning on using RideTech air suspension so I don't know if the notch n tub will cause any fitment/engineering issues.

If you just notch the frame and don't actually move the rails inboard then I don't see why the control ams would need to be moved at all.

A friend of mine had a 66 chevelle drag car that someone narrowed the frame rails to fit a 31x13 slick. What they did was they left the inner rail where it was and just narrowed the outer rail. I forget how much it was narrowed but the therory would apply to any year chevelle. I don`t know what strength issues it might cause but his car had a 12pt cage and ladderbar coil over set up. hooked really well too.
