: RWL Tires, Are BFG'S all there is for classics?
john dane Apr 9th, 02, 9:20 AM I'm painting a set of 5 spoke rallys for my 72 Malibu and would like to put a set of RWL tires on them. I have BFGs on my Camaro and on the Elky and allthough I do like them, I just want a new look. Does any one like any other RWL tires that are out there. The Polys and other repos are almost $200 each OUCH. What do you guys think?

SilverLS6 Apr 9th, 02, 9:47 AM I don't know if they still make them but I have Dunlop Radial GT Qualifiers on mine. They are RWL. I think they are about 14 years old though so I'm not sure if you can get them anymore.

The Cooper Cobras look pretty good and handle well from what I have been told, lil pricey from what I remember though...
And I'm not sure if Dunlop still makes the GT Qualifiers or not.
I had a set of Hoosier Radial GT's that looked good on a set of 71 SS wheels. I'd recommend them, see if you can find a dealer that carries them. From what I remember they were reasonably priced.

john dane Apr 11th, 02, 1:28 PM Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep you posted.
The Dunlops look good and price good.
The Eagles are very expensive over $500 installed.
I did find the Hoosiers and priced them but no pic of the WRL yet.
Still checking on the cobra.

john dane Apr 12th, 02, 7:23 AM Nice
Thanks knipe, those tires look pretty good too. You've got some great setup there. Must be nice!
Nick, I'm not sure if you read this but the site you noted priced out all 4 tires UPS Ground to the door for $266. Yaaa buddy!
I think I've got it narrowed down to P23560R15 in the front and P25560r15 in the rear. The rims are 15x7 5 spokers. I wish I could go bigger on the rear though. I did a search on the 275's and I guess there just to big for the 7" rims. Thanks again guys. If I can ever figure out ho to post some Pics I will.
ONE MORE QUESTION
Should the front tire be a smaller diameter or the same?

FIG Apr 12th, 02, 11:37 AM Hey John
If I could find some of my old pics of the wheels/tires I will send them along. I know that they looked good on my car and mom's vert. That's what was on there before they got new BFG's put on. 235 front and 255 rear works for most with a 15x7 wheel. But I do know quite a few people running 275's on 7 inch wheels. Not really recommended but they haven't had any problems.... Man do I really need a digital camera, cause we still have one of the Hoosiers sitting in the garage! Let me see what I can find.

john dane Apr 12th, 02, 12:58 PM Jeff your car looks great with those Cobra tires. How did you get your car so high? I really like that look. Is it as simple as changing out the springs? MAN those tires look good!!!
JWA Apr 13th, 02, 12:07 AM The pics with the torque thrust style wheels were taken just after the car rolled out of the body shop and it had no drivetrain or interior installed. It does sit a little higher than others I have seen but it has been that way since I bought it. I suspect that it might have wagon springs in it. Good Luck.
