Went to look at a 1969, SS396, 12 bolt, the guy is getting the big D and has to move in 2 weeks. no motor or trans, a/c car, body is rough
needs both front fenders, rear quarters, rear window repairs. he has all new parts. drum brake car. I think price is very high. $7000.00

would love to have his garage...approx 10/12 car.

If I am not mistaken, 69 was the year in which front disk brakes became standard on all SS cars, meaning the car you went to look at would not be a true SS. Either way, in the condition described, $7,000 is way too high with no motor or tranny.

If you were to build this car with hopes of 70% return of your investment the car would be too high at FREE.

Here is how to get close to the value......Add up the marketable pieces.

12 bolt
Buckets
Console
Usable sheet metal if any
Any other in demand parts

That will be all it is worth.

That is way too high for a fake SS. 69 SS cars came standard with front disc brakes. His price is going to have to drop a lot before that car will sell.

Front brakes could've been changed to drums sometime in the car's 41 years. There are many tell-tale signs to look for to determine if it was LIKELY a real SS but no proof without documentation or orig engine block. Even with docs the price is too high.

It was a disc brake car..someone he got it from swapped front brakes to put on their car before it was sold. I AGREE ITS WAY TO HIGH! J
