I'm planning on getting some rally wheels for the chevelle, and my local tire store has these Allied brand multiple lug style that fit ford and chevy for 30.00 cheaper than what they want for the Wheel Vintiques brand. They say that the strength of these is the same as the other brand,2500 lbs. per wheel and that they've never had a problem with them.I'm just a little leary about the lesser material between the bolt holes.Has anyone out there used these or have any experience with these wheels. Just looking for more opinions on these. Thanks for any and all info. Tony http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

You know, I had a set of uni-lug alum rims for a long time. They outlasted a couple camaros and a nova.I never had any problem with them. BUT, I would be careful about using them if you plan on drag racing, especially if you have some extra hp's. I wouldn't use them for autocrossing either. Regular street use, and you''ll have no problem.

My dad has a model A ford street rod with these 10 hole ones on it ( yes its a ford with rally wheels!) and the rear ones are 12 inches wide on sticky mickey thompsons... He has never had a problem... maybe if you dropped the car from a plane, but i dont think you have anything to worry about under normal use...

Tony-
A friend had those same wheels on his 69 chevelle back before he went protouring with it. No problems with the wheels. He bent one smacking a curb when the car fishtailed(his fault) and the paint chipped off like mad and he was ALWAYS repainting them. I believe the wheel vintiques either have stronger paint or are powdercoated. I have wheel vintiques on my 65, just can figure out what they're painted with but I know they arent chippin! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks guys; From your responses these sound like they might be worth giving a try. I was figuring going with the chrome ones so as not to have to mess with the rings.Anyone else want to comment? Thankyou. Tony

Tony,
Not sure what price you're looking to pay, but you might want to call this guy. I talked to him a couple of times here and he was always willing to help.

James; I've emailed that guy,and I my local Les schwab store can get me the same wheels for the same price,as It would cost me 80.00 to have those shipped from florida. thanks for the reply though. Tony
Tony,
I ran a set of the chrome ones from Schwab's on my chevelle before I went to the draglites. I then ran them on my Camaro until I put the 17's on it. They worked fine and are now on another 69 Camaro(a friends father's car) The finish on the chrome is good if you keep them cleaned and waxed. Keep an eye on the area where the center is attaches to the rim. That area can develop some corrosion. When I ran them I used the Wheel Vintiques Fluted Knock-off and a SS396 insert that looked pretty good. They can be seen on a couple different pics in the links of my signature. I kept the knock-offs when I sold them. Good Luck

Thanksguys and thanks for the pics ACE,nice looking cars.I'm not dead set on the chrome ones yet as I just can't seem to picture my regal red 66 in chrome wheels. it's got slotted mags on it now and i'm used to the duller shine of those. So I'm not sure what whels I'm going to end up with yet. Tony
