need some help. i'm looking at the american racing torq-thrust II's 17 x 8 rims. will they fit on my 67 malibu convertible without any suspension adjustments? if not, what size rim is the largest i can get away with?

They should fit with no suspension adjustments. I have the 17X8 size on my 65 El Camino on all four wheels. I have lowered the front 1" and the rear 1/2". I only have minor rubbing on the fronts when at full turn lock and the wheel is pushed up into the wheelhouse. Normal driving does not have any rubbing problems. I recommend that you use only a 7" width on the fronts to completely prevent the rubbing, this is the only change I would make to mine.

You need to verify your backspacing requirements, but they should be the same as my 65. I have 5" bs with the 8" width and it is centered in the rear wheelwell. The 7" would require a 4.5" bs to center it.

17x8" with 4.5" bs for the front
17x9" with 5 or 5.5" bs for the rear

one tire option: 235x45x17 front
275x40x17 rear

there are other options available depending on your needs (ride, handling, look, etc)
