Looking to put cragar ss 15x7 front and 15x8 rear on my 71 ss with 230/60/15 front, 255/60/15 rears.
I check summit and they only show 15x8 with 4.25 back spacing. everyone here states, that 15x8 wheels have to have 4.50 backing spacing. am I going to have a problem if I use the 4.25 back spaceing on the 15x8.
thaks guys.

I haven't done exactly what you're talking about, but pretty close. IMO the 4.25" backspace should be fine with the 255-60.

Bill,
I agree with Bob above with P255's you should be OK. I have P275's on back of my 70 with wheel Vintiques SS Wheels with 4.5" bs and they fit well. The P275 is 8.9" across the tread width (BFG T/A's) and the P255 are 8.2" so it would seem that the fit will be fine...and Crager SS are period correct and so darn http://www.chevelles.com/forum/cool.gif
Good Luck

Im running similar 15x8 with 4" spacing and 275/50/15 on my 71 Elky.
Just clear the rear fenders and slight rub on big bumps in the front HOWEVER, I have shorter springs and tall spindles so its lowered 2+". You should be OK with the ones your looking at.

Chuck, are you running the 275/50/15's all the way around. I like the look of the same size tires front and back, but 50's seam too big for the front. Thanks Cal

Yep...same size tires all around. Was going to go with the 265-50's but they're 1" smaller in diameter. Saw them on a lowered chevelle and looked good. Left too much wheel well opening on my Elky.
Theres been info about Cragers having problems with the lug bolts loosing up or coming off so need to check them from time to time.
