Just wanted to see what everyone thinks about this. Do i have to get my headers ceramic coated or will powder coated hold up. I met a guy that runs a very reputible powder coating shop. He told me the standard powder coating is good up to like 1200f..Sound right. He told me $75 for both headers is that good price? Thanks.. Oh by the way when i say shop i think its like 60,000sf. they do industrial powder coating

Tell him you want to see a set that's been coated with his 'special powder coat', and run on a car for about a year.

No way that "standard powdercoating" will hold up to exhaust temps.
They need to be done with ceramic powdercoat designed for this purpose.
They need to be sand blasted, high temp primered, then coated with ceramic based powdercoated, polishing tumbled (to enhance the shine).
I learned alot by having mine done and have held up perfectly.I payed $250.00 for this here locally on the east coast.

i talked to my powercoater about doing my headers, and he assured me it wont work.
In case yours does have a different kind of powder that actually will work, make sure he does the outside AND inside of the header.
When I was told powder wont work, I got por15 header paint, had my headers sandblasted, wiped clean, and professionally sprayed it on in a paint booth. It flaked off in 15 minutes after the first startup:hurray: so good luck with your coating!

To activate standard powdercoating, the resins require baking at 400 degrees for approx 20 minutes.
I can help but wonder how this coating would survive with exhaust gas temps in the 600+ degree range. :noway:
Dan,use this place they did mine for $260 ceramic coating http://www.boneheadperformance.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc the guy has a chevelle he can show you the finish on the headers he is rite in warwick ind park.

I worked for an industriasl powdercoater, powdercoat on headers will not work if you plan to start the engine.
