Still somewhat under knowledged about Chevelles yet but am learning. Besides the windlace from a 2 dr Chevelle coupe are there any other GM A bodies that share the windlace pieces to replace the torn pieces on my '71 Chevelle? If not, has anyone got a reccomendation for after market replacement?

Which windlace?? Headliner windlace OR Door Opening windlace?
If headliner, then Buick Skylark should be the same.
If door opening, then any 69-72 GM 2 door A-body will work.

Sorry I wasn't specific, like I said, still learning about my Chevelle. Referring to the door windlace for a 2 dr. coupe. If I read correctly then windlace from a Buick GS, Olds 442, Pontiac GTO/LeMans 2 door will also fit. Any recommendations on a vendor if I can't find decent OEM pieces in a parts car? Thanks.

I can't recommend a specific vendor because I don't know if anyone is making an EXACT COPY or not. These things are a specific diameter with the vinyl outer "tube" filled with foam...also have a vinyl flap attached to them.
If you need black you should be able to find a set of nice originals rather easily as that color survives the best...especially if you can source them from someone up North (less heat and sun).
YES----Any of other 69-72 A body door opening windlaces will work....Cutlass/442, Skylark/GS. Lemans/GTO, and of course Chevelle/SS.
Try a "Parts Wanted" ad.
Let me know if you are looking for them in black....I'm registered on a number of other A-body sites and could easily post an ad for you and then put you in touch with any seller directly.
Again, what color??

pglade, Sorry again not being specific enough. Still learning both the Chevelle and the board workings. I have a '71 Chevelle 2 dr. coupe with the # 725 Dark Blue interior so hopefully that is the color I will be able to locate. Plan on hitting a couple 'yards but not very hopeful for 40 year old interior to be intact. Have a friend who lives in upper Michigan, will contact him by email and give him the specific's I am looking for. Maybe with him being up north like you say may be a better chance in finding decent OEM interior pieces. Also, just a thought, will the windlace from a '70 thru '72 convertable work if I happen to stumble across such? Not likely to find in a 'yard but never know. Thanks again

I got a set of repro's from Origional Parts group and they seem to be pretty decent and convertibles are different.

Patton...I am looking for the door windlace for a convertible. Don't want the repro junk. Color is not important as it can be dyed. You mentioned you had a source.

Hardtop Windlaces---Same length.shape as convertible...but
Convertible Windlace---has a rectangular spot cut out to clear the door/QP jamb wedges (the two piece metal wedges are found on converts....a stainless "wedge" screws onto the door jamb and a brass "wedge" screws onto the QP jamb). These serve as a "stop" since the convert bodies flex more...these are meant to hit each and limit the flex up there to some degree. I guess if these weren't installed the door lock/latch/striker mechanisms would then get a lot more wear and tear from the body flexing.
If you are gong to dye them then you might as well try to find a color that is close to what you need...easier color change and less apparent if the color topcoat gets nicked, etc.
JLowe--what color is your interior going to be??
Also....the hardtop windlaces can have the notch cut in them for the wedge.
