my problem is no parking lights when the light switch is on. I do have low and high beam when switch is pulled ll the way out, but no parking lights in the front only.
I do get parking lights when the light switch is pullled out half way though, they disappear when pulled out all the way to turn on headlights.
Any suggestions??????

That is how they are supposed to be and always were way back when, first notch = front parking lights and taillights only, second notch = headlights and taillights only.
You CAN change it if you like though.

Like this:
If you would like to operate your lights with your parking lights on here is an easy fix.
Starting in 1968, when side-marker lights were
introduced, the parking lights remained on when the
headlights were switched on. Prior to that model year,
the parking lights switched off when the headlights
were switched on. I believe this pertains to all GM
vehicles.
disconnect the battery first. Then
disconnect the light switch from the dash, and drop it
down below the edge of the dash. Before you unplug the
wiring harness from the switch, look at the position
of the purple wire in the connector. It will be in a
slot which is at the end of the switch, farthest from
the dash. Look for an open slot in the connector which
is at the other end of the connector, towards the
dash. Remove the connector from the light switch, and
then release the terminal of the purple wire from the
connector using a small screwdriver (you do this from
the light switch side of the connector). Insert the
terminal of the purple wire into the open slot of the
connector which you identified earlier (the one closer
to the dash). Then just reconnect the wiring harness
to the light switch, and reinstall the light switch
into the dash, and reconnect the battery. Now the
parking lights will function as before in the halfway
position, but remain on when the headlights are
switched on.

Thank you for that info. I am certain that I saw the front parking lights on with the headlights on though, and when I messed with the highbeam switch it went away. That is why I thought I needed to get it back the way I saw it temporarily. I wonder what was up with that?

Short circuit!
As mentioned, the headlights and parking lights use different terminals on the switch, so if it worked once, then someone already did the modification, and you might have a loose wire connection or an intermittant short...
The highbeams and lowbeams should NOT affect the aprking lights AT ALL...
The dash switch doesn't know "Hi" from "Low", just "headlights"... The dimmer switch on the floor is where Hi and Low are changed, and the parking light wiring does NOT go through that dimmer switch (unless someone really messed with the wiring)...
