: 345/55 x 15" BFG's?

Was looking for some new fat tires for the back of the Chevelle and noticed that BFG has some 345/55 x 15" Drag Radials that have an 11.6" tread with and are 29.8" tall.

Sounds like a lot of meat for a non-tubbed car, but I would like to try some anyway. Have any of you ever seen these tires on a non-tubbed Chevelle?

I currently have 12.50 x 29 MT Sportsman Pro's on the car and don't have a rubbing problem with them.

SS540 ,I have 325/50/15 hoosier QTs on my 70 i had to cut the inner wheel wells, which was very easy , But you will have to fab some tin in the trunk were the holes are ,sounds like a lot of work but wasnt that bad .I guess you could call it a mini tubb.I did it all in one day. I use a 15x10 with a 5.5 back spaceing there is no more room on my car ,i can just fit 1 finger between the tire and frame , the out side is still ok ,I would like the 345/55/15 too, but i dont think they will fit,Or should i say i know they wont fit on MY car.GOOD LUCK...............OH yeah one more thing SS540 ,ITS A BIGGER BLOCK , CAR CRAFT winner last year HMMMMM.....Talk to ya later

I don't have a problem with cutting the inner wheel houses. I have already beat on them with a sledgehammer and have trimmed the Q-panel lip to fit my current tires in without rubbing. I suspect that the 345's would have a pretty fat section width and they might rub the frame. I may be wishing for a tire that just won't fit without narrowing the frame.

I have been delighted that Car Craft and Chevy High Performance have used pictures of the car in some of their advertising. I wonder which car won the second Car Craft contest? I voted for Todd's Malibu, but he said he was not contacted, so I assume someone else won. Hope it is a Chevelle!

The car is red with black stripes. It was featured on the cover of the January 2001 issue of Car Craft. It has been used in the past couple of issues of CC & CHP in the CC Summer Nationals advertisement near the back of the magazine.

We are almost settled on either the 325/50/15 or 295/50/15 with 15" x 10" rims with 5.5 Back Spacing on our '69 Elke.

Problem? Ours is lowered 4" front and rear, and the current 15" rim on the back is only approx. 1" below the fender well. It is tubbed, and the rear shock mounts were moved in 2" on both sides when we had the rear end beadblasted and powdercoated. The fender well had been cut out for the tubs, plus the lip was rolled.

Will it be close, or are we ok?

Where did you find 5.5 BS rims?

Any and all info and help greatly appreciated.
