I have searched and searched but no one has the combination of 295/50R15 with 15x8 on a '71 chevelle. The wheel i want to use is the cragar ss which is 15x8 w/ a bs of 4.25 Please help me.

I think you will be just fine with that as long as those wheels do indeed have 4.25" of backspacing. 4.5" would center it in the wheel well so I don't think a 1/4 inch will matter ESPECIALLY since we are talking about 8" wide wheels as opposed to 10" wide wheels (8" wheels will give the tire slightly less section width)

Check out my website to see pics of my '71 with 295/50-15 on 15x10 wheels - no mods needed. Since you'll be running a narrower rim, you should be fine probably have more clearance than I do - no guarantees though.
