: My old Powerglide
richietables Mar 30th, 10, 10:38 PM Is the original 'glide worth anything? I'm swapping my TH350 with a 700r4 and I'll never use the glide again. Worked when pulled. What's it worth or should I 'donate it' to the tranny shop? Plus convertor....
Bill Pritchard Mar 31st, 10, 12:17 AM I had one from a 69 Chevy for years....tried on and off to sell it for next to nothing, and had zero interest. Wound up putting it out on the curb on one of our former village's "Spring Clean-Up days" and off to the scrapyard it went.

JAYARTER Mar 31st, 10, 12:54 AM I got 3 taking up room in the garage...one with 1000 miles on it, also have
turbo 400, 4 motors, time for spring cleaning Jay
I had a good one from a '69 Chevelle for sale for quite some time before finally getting $50 for it. I wouldn't give a plugged nickle for all of them personally. They will move a vehicle but that's about it IMO. Like starting off in second gear. Some people like highly modified versions for drag racing but what fun is one shift?
PCB67SS Mar 31st, 10, 5:20 AM A little reading to help with your decision......:beers:

richietables Mar 31st, 10, 7:28 AM Interesting Hemmings article, thanks... But I guess the key is that they made 17 million of them... Thanks for the input, guys- I'll see if my transmission guy can use the core.
Jay, I'd love to see your garage with all that stuff in it!

Like Von said, they are sought after by some of the drag racers.
I once had to pay over $100 for a good case when mine turned out to have some problem areas.

That is true about Craigslist. I sold a Saginaw I bought for $20 on there for $200. All I did was clean the outside up a little bit with paint thinner/carb cleaner and sent it on it's way.
Did you ever hear back from that lady about the Ford transmissions?
sambrutay Apr 1st, 10, 8:53 AM never had any problems selling a slip and slide
Jasons 69 Chevelle Apr 1st, 10, 10:16 AM I sold mine for $50 on craigslist and had about 20 responses in 2 hours.
craigslist flagged it for some reason, but I had sold it by then.
rodent4 Apr 1st, 10, 5:20 PM Send it to Australia, they are rarely found cheaper than $400au(secondhand) out here :(
