View Full Version : White-letter tires for the daily driver
Shawn Feb 6th, 02, 10:46 PM What type of white-lettered tires do you guys like to use? I'm considering putting a set on the 'camino, but I'm not sure what brand to get. The BFG Radial T/A's seem to be popular, how are they? Good traction in rain and occasionally snow? Right now I'm running Cooper Lifeliner Classic II's on there, and they're good but you can't get them with white lettering.

knipe Feb 7th, 02, 12:11 AM I run radial T/A's. I like them and they look period correct even though their radials. I also have some comp T/A's, they stick better but not much. Comp's don't have RWL.
I would recommend the radial T/A's.

ZZ69chevelle Feb 7th, 02, 7:03 AM I'll vote for the T/A's too. They do pretty good in the rain and snow, look good, and are a decent performer for a daily driver. I have BFG tires on everything but my 93 Camaro, and when the Perelli's wear out, it's getting the BFG treatment too.

Mytmouse Feb 7th, 02, 7:12 AM Another vote for BFG Radial T/A's. I like the look and the handling. Have been caught in the rain a few times with no problems. I can't speak for the snow issue though...my rides go into hibernation well befor the first snow flies... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

cm70man Feb 7th, 02, 8:55 AM My vote goes to BFG radial T/A tires as well. They look great, ride well and the price is right. My second choice would be Goodyear Eagle ST radials. They also look good but are a bit more expensive.
Bob Tiley Feb 7th, 02, 9:34 AM I have the B.F.G. Radial T/A's too. They are a good tire for daily driving in rain and occasional snow, but don't hook up great with a lot of horsepower, but they last long.
My vote is for T/A's also. I run them on my 71 and I run BFG AT's on my 94 K2500. I also agree that with Bob that they last long and don't work to good with alot of horsepower. But if you want it to stick the rubber compound will be softer and thus wear out sooner and vise-versa on the harder tire compounds.

supersport396_2000 Feb 7th, 02, 2:58 PM I'm suprized that most of you like the T/A's.245/60/14 I have them on my Stang and they look good but i didn't think that they had good traction in the wet or good wear. It's just a stock 302/SROD 4spd and i have trouble keeping the tires from spinning in the rain. They are kinda plastic like to me.I don't know ,maybe it's just that FORD power http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif(156HP)<<LOL.
65stocksupersport Feb 8th, 02, 5:39 PM I go with basic stock Firestones with original SS hubcaps for the Plain Jane look. When I feel a little edgey I slap on BFG T/A's and my American Racing rims. Handling is much better.
jdanlatta Feb 9th, 02, 10:50 AM I've got brand new BFG radial T/A's on freshly powder-coated rims and haven't driven a single centimeter. They look awesome sitting up on jackstands! I highly recommend.
