One thing to consider is how low your car is. If it's somewhere between lowered and down in the weeds, things change quickly.

nolimitpkr, do you know what backspacing your friend is using to fit those 315s on there? Also, can you confirm that the wheel is a 17X11? Thanks...

I have 17X11's on the back and am by far the lowest "A" body running that much wheel.(edit- on an "A" body with stock inner and outer wheel wells, airbag and backhalf cars don't count) They never rub, the key is to get the backspacing right. You need a 6" backspacing wheel, although some guys have got away with 5.5" as well.

17 X 11 with 6.5" backspacing on my car. Haven't rolled or trimmed the fender lips and they don't rub. As usual, your application may vary so make sure you measure! I needed a bit more backspace as I'm running 2-piece rotors and the aluminum hats are about .250" thick. I could also have run 6.25" backspace without trimming the lips, and could have run 6.0" backspace with trimming/rolling the lips.

When you start getting wide you need to step up in wheel diameter to clear the lower shock mount. 17" clears with plenty of room to spare.

The lowest part is debatable and I'm running 17x13's. :D You're probably lower in the front, though. At a static height,it's no contest. Just messing with you,my friend.
Denny is right about backspacing being the key element. It's #1.
I would run at least 6.25" backspace with a 17x11. 6.375" might be better.
You need to wash them wheels. Those things are filthy. :D

Excellent advice. Whose rear rotors are you running,Troy?

17x11 with +8mm offset which works out to be about 6.3" backspacing

Baer Eradispeed 2-piece jobbers. The hat is pretty darn thick.

Somewhere between 6"-6.5" backspace would probably have eliminated the need for the rolled lips.

I agree...but he wanted the wheels to be right at the edge but still tuck under.
