Dear Bob and Guys....Sorry to do this, I have a folder 3/4" thick of stuff I have downloaded, but I just can't find the article anymore. ( I know it has been done! ) I am going to purchase tires for spring and I wish to know what is the very largest normal street tire ( Goodyear or Goodrich ) that will fit on a 15x8" PMD mag or Vintiques repro Chevy "500 series SS ) rim and go under my rear quarter ( outer, inner ), in other words fit without mods. or hitting the chrome trim strip if I go over a bump. Then, I need to know, or work out for myself, what tire to put on the front that will be slimmer, but the same height and allow me to make turns. If the search function was on, I would certainly do this myself. I know it's been done. If anyone out there has all this info. could you please let me know. Sorry I couldn't find it in my own file. I have been carefully keeping it for about 2-3 years. R. B.

Not sure what the biggest you can fit on the front but the backs would be P275 60R 15's if you stay with a 60 series tire and standard 4.5" backspacing. I think I remember some saying that they got P295 50R with same back spacing or maybe it was with 5" back spacing but the 50 series is a lower profile and not my cup of tea on a Chevelle.

I have the P275 60R15's on the back of my 70 and they fit perfect with 4.5" bs Wheel Vintique SS wheels. I kept the stock 14's on the front and I think the equivalent to F70's were P215 70R 14's.

My buddy has the P275 60R 15's on the back of his 68 and again they fit perfect. I am not sure what size he has on the front though. Hopefully someone else will see this and help you out with the fronts.

I talked to my buddy last night, which was just coinicidence because he is never at home as his job has him out of town all the time, and I asked and he said that he has P215 70R 15's on the front of his 68
