I am looking in to the 295/65/15 drag radials and i had a few questions, what size rim and off set would i need for a 70 chevelle i want the least possible off set, also how are these for daily drivers and at the track, also do they require a "burnout" or just a quick "clean". Please any suggestionss accepted. ALso can email me

Dan, I use that exact tire size on my '70 right now and really like the way it performs on the street. I expect it to wear much better than the McCreary 'Road Stars' ever did. Those things (McCreary's) were toast with less than 3,000 miles of cruising time and didn't handle well at all.

As far as wheel width goes, you MUST use a 15X10 with 5.5" backspacing for that BFG tire to fit properly. Even with that, you WILL NEED to roll the wheel well lip for tire clearance when going over the bumps.

As far as track usage, I can't tell you personally how well they hook but I've been told that these tires do not require a lengthy burnout in the box...apparently a short one works just fine and I've heard some folks even driving around the water box altogether. From what I've heard, they're limited in their ability to hook well with anything turning better than a high 11 second range. I'm sure there is always the exception though.

The pic below is with the 295-65 BFG drag radial on a 15X10 wheel and 5.5" backspacing. Hope this helps some.

Yea Dan, you DO have to roll the lip even for these tires to clear...at least I would have had to if I hadn't done it for the McCreary's. The rear suspension consists of Malibu Performance 'solid boxed' lower control arms, polygraphite bushings at all points, 1" rear sway bar, KYB shocks and stock OEM springs. Nothing fancy really and it hooks xtremely well - zero wheel hop.
