I just ordered some 16 inch rallys and am trying to figure out what to wrap around them. I was thinking 255 50 16's in the rear and 235 50 16's up front. Two questions...#1 Will they rub at all?? (oh yeah 4 1/2 in. backspacing) #2 What effect is this going to have on my ride height if any?? Thanks again...

What year is the car. That tire size will fit just about any year with the correct backspacing. Ride height will depend on what is on the car now. the 255-50-16 is roughly 26 inches tall. and the 235 is about 25.25 inches by my calculations. And 4.5 inch backspacing doesn't tell me much without knowing the wheels width. I assume you got 16x8. But the best way to know for sure that the new wheels fit is to get under your car and measure it yourself. Like I said 255's should fit just about any year A-body

Oops...I guess I forgot to put in some important information. I've got a 72 & the wheels are 16 x 8. I'm thinking of either going with the 255 rear 235 front....or 245 rear 225 front on the tires, both 50 series. Are the different sizes going to affect the stance of my car? I'm looking for a stance that's slightly lower up front. I've got Hotchkis spring all the way around which "supposedly" lowered my ride height an inch all the way around. Right now I'm running 235 60 15's on all fours. Thanks again...

David, you shouldn't have a problem with either tire combo. I'm running 17x8 wheels w/4" backspace and 235/45/17 BFG's on the front of my lowered(2") 68 Elky w/o any clearance problems whatsoever. A 235/45/17 and 235/50/16 tire are pretty much the same height.
