Would anyone here be kind enough to decode this cowl tag please?

That would be a real nice looking combination with the blue on blue. I saw your first post, though, and see that the bench seat is long gone. Still some of that Mist Blue paint on the hood. I own a 66 Corvair that was originally Mist Blue and will be repainted that color (now red). Love that color.

Unfortunately, Fremont cowl tags don't have accessory codes on them that give you additional information like what optional transmission might have come in the car. Trim tags from other Chevelle assembly plants have the codes. Looks like the truck has always been in California.

Good luck with your project!

BTW, if the interior is still the two-tone blue, I'd like to have a photo of it for my ChevelleStuff.com site. I know it's the same seat as the Malibu 729 seat but seeing in an El Camino would make one more code I'd have links to.

Thank you for the info! There's not much of an interior left but some blue is still showing on the sheetmetal inside. Yep, the bench seat is long gone and it hasn't been on the road since at least 84.

One more thing... Far as the previous 2 owners can tell, it was a big block 4 speed car, it has the factory cutout for a manual transmission. So I'm not planning to hack anything up, anything I do will be simple to reverse if someone later on down the road wants to put it back to stock.
